I loved collaborating with many talented artists on this ensemble film. Members of our cast & crew are part of the queer kiki ballroom scene, & were an inspiration to the design. The look embraces thrifted finds & the gritty layered textures of urban history. Metallic finishes contrast with soft fabrics. There is a tension of sunset fades in our palette, a longing & fear for the night. Playful colors dominate the characters fiercely creative worlds, contrasting with the gray, green & white of gentrification's order. A New York love story that anticipates change. A travel film through the boroughs, captured by the moody lens of Jomo Fray. Our color pallet waxes & wanes, transforming our hearts.
